Snow and council services
UPDATE: Friday 16 March
The Met Office have said there could be more snow over the weekend (17-18 March). If this is the case, it may cause some disruptions to bin collections and other services next week but we'll let you know more via this webpage if this is the case.
If your bin is not collected on your scheduled day, please leave your bin out. Crews will return as soon as possible to empty it, usually the following day.
Please remember, this is weather dependent.
Any further updates about waste and recycling collections will be added to this webpage. Alternatively:
Why collections may be delayed during severe weather
Although main roads have been gritted by Oxfordshire County Council, many of our collections are on hills and minor streets. Collection trucks are heavy and will be braking as they do hundreds of stops on each round - this can be hazardous in icy conditions. Collections are delayed to take account of the safety of pedestrians, other motorists, property and our own crews.
Roads / highways / gritting
Oxfordshire County Council maintain the roads across the County. For updates on roads and gritting please visit their website or follow them on Twitter or Facebook:
You can report potholes and other road or street issues direct to the County Council online via: https://fixmystreet.oxfordshire.gov.uk/
Power supplies / cuts
Report a power cut quickly by calling 105 - the free national helpline number.
If you see someone bedding down or sleeping rough, please let us know by using the Street Link website or app or by calling 0300 500 0914. Alternatively contact our Housing Advice Team on 01993 861000 or see our Homeless or at risk webpage.
Keep well keep warm
Find advice on how to keep well and warm during the winter via the NHS Keep Well, Keep Warm webpages: www.nhs.uk/keepwarmkeepwell
Look in on vulnerable neighbours and relatives
Check up on older neighbours and relatives, and those with heart or breathing problems, to make sure:
- they're safe and well
- are warm enough, especially at night
- have stocks of food and medicines so they don't need to go out during very cold weather
