Please check your new bin calendar carefully
Some householders bin days are changing from October so we can make the collection rounds more efficient. We’re sending a new calendar and recycling guide on 20 September. Please check yours carefully.
Household rubbish is emptied fortnightly from grey wheeled bins (alternating with garden waste recycling collections) and taken to an energy from waste facility.
If you have sack collections because you are unable to store a wheelie bin at your property your household rubbish will be collected weekly.
Please ensure that your rubbish is put by the kerbside by 6am on your collection day. For legal and safety reasons, bins must be removed from public paths as soon as possible after collection.
What to put in your household rubbish bin
- Sanitary products
- Crisp and sweet packets
- Dog waste / cat waste
- Tissues/ kitchen roll
- Food pouches (foil lined)
Please place food waste into your food caddy, not your rubbish bin.
For details of how to recycle the rest of your waste see the:
We do not collect excess household rubbish in addition to the standard refuse bins. If you have excess waste please take it to Dix Pit Household Waste and Recycling Centres.
Disposable nappies take up a huge amount of space in your bin. Reusable nappies are environmentally friendly and can save you money. You can also 'try before you buy'. For more information visit:
If you do use disposable nappies, please try to flush solid soil down the toilet and tightly wrap the nappies into a small bundle before putting them into the bin.
What happens to your rubbish
Waste collected in the grey refuse bins is taken to the Ardley Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) for processing.
