East Witney Strategic Development Area - have your say
West Oxfordshire District Council is encouraging residents to have a say about what they would like to see developed at the East Witney Strategic Development site, which is allocated in the Local Plan for some 450 homes.
The council has launched a consultation to collect views on the main issues and opportunities facing the site, such as the provision of links across the Windrush Valley and into Witney town centre; the type of housing and open space needed and the potential for a new ‘community hub’ as part of the development.
People can access the consultation online via www.westoxon.gov.uk/spd at local libraries and other key locations including the District Council offices at Elmfield and the Witney town centre shop.
Councillor Jeff Haine, cabinet member for strategic planning, is encouraging people in West Oxfordshire to get involved:
“The opinions we receive through this consultation will help us to prepare a supplementary planning document which, in turn, is essential for guiding the development of this important site. We know that the people of West Oxfordshire care deeply about the area and want the chance to have their say on how the future will look and this is it. So, please get involved and let us know what would make this development site the best it can be.”
The consultation runs until 17 July and for those who want to find out more, there will also be an exhibition at Cogges Farm on Thursday 4 July between 2pm and 8pm at which people can questions and give their views and ideas.
All comments received will be taken into account as the council looks to work up the proposals in more detail later in the year.
