What is the Community Infrastructure Levy
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge placed on development, such as new homes and extensions to homes according to their floor area. For example, if the CIL charge was set at £100 per square metre and someone wanted to build a new home of 100 square metres, the CIL charge payable to us would be £10,000 (£100 x 100 sq.m).
CIL is intended to complement the current system of Section 106 planning obligations.
We are currently preparing proposals to introduce CIL to the West Oxfordshire district.
The money generated From CIL will be used alongside Section 106 is used to contribute to funding infrastructure to support development growth in West Oxfordshire.
