Coronavirus - Bins and recycling

Waste and recycling collections

This information may be out of date, it is for reference only.

Do not leave extra bags at the side of your bin, we will not be able to collect them.

Leave out your normal amount of recycling for collection. At the moment we do not have capacity to collect extra large pieces of cardboard. You can either break it down into smaller pieces or get rid of it over a few weeks.

Don’t forget to wash your hands before you put out your bin and recycling containers, and again as soon as you bring them back in.

Delivery of new bins or containers

We are currently prioritising deliveries to residents without bins for example, new developments and new garden waste customers. All other container requests will be done as soon as we have the resource available to deliver.

Food waste

You can use any plastic bag to line your caddies with and put both the internal and external out for weekly collection if you need to.

What to do with your rubbish if you have Coronavirus or are self-isolating

Follow the guidance on the Public Health England website if anyone in your household suspects they have Coronavirus.

Individuals with confirmed Coronavirus can store their personal waste (for example, used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths) securely within disposable bags. When appropriate, these bags should be removed and placed into another bag and securely tied or sealed and kept separate from other wastes.

This must be stored for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual domestic or household waste bin.

Other household waste can be disposed of as normal.

Bulky waste collections

The bulky waste service is running as normal.

Household waste recycling centres

Household recycling centres in Oxfordshire are open. Oxfordshire Council have guidance on re-opening about what that means and when you should be visiting.

Recycling bring bank sites

We are currently operating our bring bank sites as normal.  We ask you to follow the Government’s advice about staying at home and not to use these sites unless absolutely necessary. Find out which bring bank sites are open.

Access to streets and roads

Due to the higher than normal numbers of parked cars crews may experience difficulty in accessing some of our most narrow roads and streets.

Litter

We are getting lots of reports of overflowing bins due to an increase in dog walkers because of Coronavirus. If you see an overflowing bin please take your rubbish and dog waste home with you if possible.

Keep up to date with changes

We will update social media and the website if anything changes.
